The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) got the shock of her life when Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) explained that he was engaged to Paris Buckingham (Diamond White).

Now Hope is struggling to wrap her head around Paris and Thomas’ wedding plans, but what’s the truth behind Thomas’ new relationship?

Is Thomas’ love for Paris real, a rebound or just a way to manipulate Hope?

In an interview with SOD, Matthew Atkinson opened up about this engagement twist and offered a bit more insight into what Thomas is thinking.

However, Atkinson pointed out that although he usually has an in-depth discussion with B&B Head Writer and Executive Producer Bradley Bell about major story developments, he didn’t in this case.

As a result, Atkinson can’t be sure whether his own view of the situation lines up with Bell’s perspective.

That said, Atkinson shared how he approached his homecoming scenes and all this engagement drama, so we at least know what he was thinking when he played the material.

According to Matthew Atkinson, he feels like Thomas is genuinely trying to move on from Hope and the devastation he felt when she refused to take their relationship any further.

Even so, Atkinson acknowledged that it’s hard for Thomas to shove down old feelings now that he’s back with Hope in person.

Some of Thomas’ love for Hope will indeed resurface, so that could lead to trouble along the way.

Nevertheless, Atkinson is confident that Thomas could truly move on from Hope in time.

It’s just a situation where Thomas’ feelings are still complicated and he’s diving into something with Paris a bit too quickly.

“I don’t think that Paris is a rebound for Thomas, but I do think that he wasn’t completely over that relationship [with Hope] before he got into a new one,” Atkinson admitted.

As for whether Thomas’ engagement to Paris might be a strategy to manipulate Hope, Atkinson clearly doesn’t view it as one.

“The last thing he’s ever wanted to do is hurt her,” Atkinson said.

The B&B star also made a prediction about Thomas hopefully not making the same mistakes he’s made in the past, but we’ll see how things turn out!
