Bec Hewitt looked somewhat downcast as she quietly cheered on her husband Lleyton and son Cruz during a tennis hit-out last week.

The former Home and Away star, 42, kept a low profile in the stands as she watched the pair playing in a doubles match during an ATP Challenger event in Sydney.

She sat with her legs crossed as she clutched a water bottle, appearing deep in thought as she watched the game.

It comes as Lleyton publicly acknowledged the toll of their nomadic lifestyle, revealing that Bec had quietly shouldered the emotional burden of uprooting their young family over and over again.

The newly inducted Sport Australia Hall of Fame legend said that Bec had been the family’s anchor as they bounced across the globe for his tennis career and later their son’s emerging journey in the sport.

‘Bec’s travelled the world with us and it’s a grind, and especially with three young kids, we’ve had to move base and set up overseas. And she’s done everything with grace and elegance,’ Lleyton said at the ceremony, according to realestate.com.au.

The Hewitts have shifted between multiple homes in Australia and abroad over the years.

Since the pandemic alone, they have lived on the Gold Coast, in Melbourne, and in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, all while juggling international bases including Nassau in the Bahamas.

Their most recent property move involved selling a luxury Gold Coast beach house bought so Cruz could be closer to KDV Academy.

They offloaded the home for $4.9 million after slashing $200,000 from their asking price. The couple still walked away with a tidy profit, having paid $4.305 million for it.

The Hewitts reportedly paid $10.3 million for the resort-style home, with six bedrooms and space to comfortably accommodate their growing brood.

That purchase was aided by the record-breaking $15.2 million sale of their Toorak mansion the same year, a deal that added to the couple’s well-documented property portfolio over the years.

They have previously owned homes in Palm Beach, Melbourne and the Bahamas, and Lleyton grew up in a West Lakes property complete with its own tennis court, which his parents have since listed for sale.

The relentless moving is something Bec has carried quietly for years, and aligns with her earlier admission that she stepped away from acting to fully support her husband and young children.

In 2016, she revealed she walked away from the spotlight because the job was too demanding for a family always on the move.

Even as her children grew older, she admitted she was unsettled about returning to work, saying she was unsure how to balance public life after years out of the industry.

‘I’m settled now, the kids are all in school but I’m really nervous. It’s been so many years since I’ve done talk shows and press,’ she told the Sydney Morning Herald while launching a campaign as a Barbie ambassador.

The couple, who married at the Sydney Opera House in 2005, have navigated more than a decade of instability due to tennis travel, raising Mia, Cruz and Ava while juggling home after home around the world.

Despite the strain, Lleyton has never shied from publicly celebrating Bec’s devotion. On her 35th birthday, he posted a heartfelt Instagram message calling her ‘the most wonderful wife and mum in the world’.
