Neighbours spoilers follow.
Neighbours legend Annie Jones has broken her silence on the soap’s upcoming ending, teasing a “cliffhanger” finale. The Australian show has just eight episodes left before it wraps for good next month.
We do know that a central storyline in the final episodes will be the potential demolition of Ramsay Street to make way for a new freeway, as residents fight to save their homes.
Opening up about the “bombshell” plot twist, Annie revealed how her character Jane Harris feels about the situation.
“She is devastated to hear that news and it’s left everybody up in the air as to what’s going to happen next, where are we going to live?” she said on the official Neighbours Instagram page.
Annie then teased that the soap could have “a little bit of a cliffhanger at the end”, which she is pleased about, before adding: “That’s a really good way to finish this series, because it leaves it open to you never just know… we might be back.”

If the soap were to be revived in the future, Annie reckoned that Jane would return, joking: “Annie has too good a time out here with everybody so I’d drag her along. Put her glasses on and say, ‘get to it girl!'”
A Neighbours reboot would possibly be set in a new location, with executive producer Jason Herbison recently hinting as such while opening up about how the finale pays tribute to the soap’s former studio.
“I couldn’t end it the same way as I did last time,” he told TV Week. “I knew we were losing the Nunawading Studios and backlot imminently, which was different to the last time.

“With so much love for the show I felt I should craft an ending that would give the show a chance to come back in different ways that didn’t rely on the studios. This is what the finale sets out to do.”
Elsewhere, a few familiar faces are due to return for the final episodes, though it looks like Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney) won’t be among them.
