Stevie Nash is set to experience another life change in upcoming scenes in Casualty.

The consultant in emergency medicine has not had an easy time of late in the BBC soap after her assumed pregnancy was confirmed to be a cancerous mass growing on her ovary.

After her condition deteriorated, she underwent surgery, with doctors giving Stevie a hysterectomy to save her life.

Stevie quickly began chemotherapy, which she has now completed, and returns to work in upcoming scenes of the show.

On her first day back on the job, she experiences tingling in her hands as a side effect of her chemo, but decides to keep the painful sensation to herself.

Flynn Byron warmly greets her, but Stevie is soon plunged into the deep end when overdose patients flood the department, causing absolute pandemonium.

Flynn tells her he suspects the heroin these patients have taken was probably laced with nitazenes or fentanyl.

Stevie is left alone in Resus to deal with the numerous OD patients, but Flynn takes over when he notices her trembling hands.

When Flynn asks Stevie why she didn’t tell him about her hands, she tells him she doesn’t want to be seen as a warrior for fighting cancer. She says she just survived it.

Her experience with the disease has left her scared all of the time and questioning who she is. How will she navigate her emotions to work in the fast-paced environment at Holby City Hospital?

Stevie actor Elinor Lawless opened up about her own health woes as a child following the Christmas special of Casualty, which saw numerous patients in need of blood transfusions.

“I had a congenital heart condition when I was a kid,” she told The Mirror. “I had open-heart surgery when I was seven, and because of that, I can’t give blood, and it bothers me.

“It’s something so beautifully straightforward that we can do for each other, and in that situation, I was relying on other people to do the thing that I can’t do. I’m here because somebody decided to go to a blood bank that day – that’s just mind-boggling.”
