Former H&A: Jordi Webber Reveals Spartacus Secrets, Tarot Predictions & His Dream of Fatherhood
Former Home and Away star Jordi Webber is entering a powerful new chapter—one that blends destiny, discipline, and deeply personal dreams. The New Zealand-born actor has been riding a wave of momentum since wrapping up his time on Australian television, traveling across Europe, and settling into life on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. But according to Jordi, the biggest turning point of all may have been written in the stars.
As 2023 came to a close, Jordi paid a visit to a tarot reader, not expecting anything more than curiosity-driven insight. Instead, he walked away with a prediction that would soon change everything. She told him a “warrior” was approaching—words that lingered in his mind. Just weeks later, an audition landed in his inbox, and as he explored the character, something clicked instantly. Jordi felt it in his bones. This wasn’t just another role—it was the warrior he had been told about.
That instinct proved right. Jordi secured the role of Taron, a dangerous and emotionally complex gladiator, in Spartacus: House of Ashur, a reboot of the iconic ancient Roman franchise. Drawn to the character’s inner conflict and dramatic extremes, Jordi embraced the challenge head-on. The physical demands alone were intense, requiring weeks of fight training before filming even began. By the time the cast stepped onto set, they had forged a bond through sweat, bruises, and shared exhaustion, feeling less like actors and more like real fighters.
Stepping onto the massive set in Auckland was both thrilling and intimidating. For Jordi, this was the biggest project of his career to date—and joining a franchise with an established global fanbase came with pressure. Long filming days stretched to 14 hours, and to stay in peak shape, Jordi and his co-stars even installed a pull-up bar on set to maintain their gladiator physiques between takes.
Jordi’s journey to this point has been anything but conventional. Growing up in Rotorua, he started out performing in school musicals like Grease, later joining the boy band Titanium and earning the title of Cleo Bachelor of the Year in 2013. Roles followed in Head High, Netflix’s Choose Love, and an action-packed stint on Power Rangers, which unknowingly prepared him for the physical intensity of Spartacus.
Movement has always been central to Jordi’s life. From martial arts and swordplay to surfing, hiking, and even teaching Zumba, physical expression feels natural to him. He credits his Polynesian heritage for that fluidity, explaining that handling weapons and performing combat choreography felt instinctive rather than forced.
Not all challenges were about strength, though. Filming intimate scenes pushed Jordi in a different way. At first, the vulnerability felt confronting, but over time it became empowering. Standing nearly exposed in front of a full crew forced him to develop confidence and self-acceptance, turning discomfort into growth.
When filming wrapped, Jordi celebrated with a cast getaway to Bali, before ticking another dream destination off his list—Machu Picchu. With Egypt’s pyramids next on his travel wish list, Jordi draws creative inspiration from exploring the world. That passion recently shaped his music, including his single Live or Die, a reflective blend of pop, rock, rap, and orchestral elements. His earlier track, Starlight, was written with a future daughter in mind.
Despite his busy career, Jordi speaks openly about his desire to become a father one day. He admits that acting makes stability difficult, especially without the right partner, but his upbringing—surrounded by loving parents and extended family—instilled a strong desire to raise children of his own. While he is currently dating, he’s in no rush. For Jordi, fatherhood should begin from a place of happiness, security, and love.
Family remains his emotional anchor. He credits his mother as his greatest inspiration, admiring her fearless approach to life—from nursing and community work to global adventures and personal challenges. Her philosophy of chasing dreams without hesitation has shaped Jordi’s own outlook.
Looking ahead, Jordi plans to spend time reconnecting with nature before setting his sights on Los Angeles in 2026. Film roles are the goal, with dream projects including Star Wars or a swashbuckling pirate epic. He’s also writing his own stories, including a pre-colonial love tale rooted in Māori culture.
Above all, Jordi hopes his journey encourages young Kiwi and Polynesian kids to embrace their identity. To him, heritage isn’t a limitation—it’s a superpower.
