This Wednesday, September 11, TF1 launches the broadcast of the seventh and final season of Good Doctor. A salvo of episodes that opens with farewells since one of the leading actors of the medical series will not return. Hill Harper, who has played Dr. Marcus Andrews since the launch, has indeed hung up his coat at the end of season 6.

Why did Hill Harper leave Good Doctor?
In March 2023, Hill Harper announced his desire to run for Senator for the State of Michigan. This news had greatly worried fans at the time, since his race for politics would have inevitably had an impact on his future in the medical series. And it seems they were right, since a few months later, TVLine announced that the actor would not be returning in season 7.

“Hill Harper believes there is a crisis in American democracy – too often, government works only for the rich and powerful, while the rest must fight to make their voices heard,” explained Hill Harper’s campaign spokesperson to TVLine.

“Hill is focusing his full-time efforts on remedying this situation, and he is running for the United States Senate as an active member of the party to give working people a better voice in Congress.”

How is the actor’s departure explained?
It was in the season 6 finale of Good Doctor that Hill Harper made his last appearance. Doctor Andrews made the decision to resign from his position as president of Saint Bonaventure Hospital.

The first episode of season 7, broadcast this Wednesday evening on TF1, allows us to learn, however, that the doctor did not simply leave the establishment. He has actually changed continents. During a conversation, viewers discover that he has settled in Spain, and that he has therefore made a new start far from San José.
