Emmerdale sets up huge Christmas plot as Charity slips up

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has kicked off a big Christmas storyline for Charity Dingle, as a faux pas risks exposing her devastating baby secret.

Charity is currently pregnant with Ross Barton’s baby after the two had a one-night stand. However, she’s letting everyone believe that the child is actually Sarah Sugden and Jacob Gallagher’s after she acted as a surrogate for the pair.

In tonight’s episode, an anxious Charity was getting ready for her 20-week scan as Sarah and Jacob could barely contain their excitement.

Charity said she was worried about the baby having some health problems, but Vanessa reassured her that it was unlikely.

“Sarah and Jacob had their embryo screened, didn’t they?” Vanessa said.

When her ex hesitated, Vanessa put two and two together and accused her of lying about the baby’s conception, implying that Charity’s husband Mack Boyd was the biological father.

Charity managed to throw Vanessa off the scent, reiterating that the baby was Sarah and Jacob’s.

At the scan, Charity was visibly nervous, but Jacob explained he’d got tested before the IVF round to determine if he had any undiagnosed medical conditions that could be passed to the baby. As the scan was perfectly normal, Sarah and Jacob were on cloud nine, but Charity couldn’t shake a sense of unease over her lies.jacob gallagher, sarah sugden, charity dingle, emmerdale

For her part, Vanessa wouldn’t let it go and checked in on Charity following the scan.

Seeing Charity was still stressed, Vanessa reminded her that she’d had unprotected sex with Mack and urged her to be honest.

A guilty Charity shut down Vanessa’s theory and kicked her out. “Find someone else to hassle. And remind me never to tell you anything again!” she said.charity dingle, emmerdale

In previous Emmerdale scenes, a DNA test confirmed the baby Charity is carrying is, without a hint of a doubt, Ross’s.

Vanessa may have got the wrong end of the stick, but she’s not that far off from the truth.

Emmerdale fans can expect a tense Christmas period for Charity as she will be forced to spend the day with Vanessa.

Spoilers tease that Vanessa may spill it all after one too many drinks, threatening to let the cat out of the bag.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
