Casualty star Barney Walsh inundated with messages as he shares career update with fans

TV actor Barney Walsh is riding high on a sea of supportive messages after being nominated for the Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards, recognising his work in the beloved BBC series Casualty.

Barney took to social media to share the nomination news, which was also posted by the official Instagram account of the medical drama, exciting his followers.

Engaging fans with an on-set photo, the announcement highlighted Barney’s achievement with the caption: “Barney Walsh is longlisted for Serial Drama Performance at the #NTAs. Vote all things #Casualty..”

Enthusiastic viewers expressed their joy and support, with comments such as: “Congratulations. Had my vote already!” and another fan commenting: “@barneywalsh congratulations well deserved.”

Echoing the sentiment, another fan chimed in with their support by writing: “Well deserved. Go, Barney,” reports Wales Online.

Barney, who brings to life the character Cameron Mickelthwaite, known for his unfortunate blunders, joined the casts during its 37th season that debuted in 2023.

After becoming part of the Casualty family, he expressed: “It’s been an incredible experience to join the cast of Casualty alongside Anna, Sarah, JJ and Eddie.”

Revealing his eagerness for the audience to get to know his role, he added: “It’s a real joy to come to work every day and play Cam. I can’t wait for the viewers to meet nurse Cam as he arrives at Holby and very quickly realises he might have bitten off more than he can chew!”

Barney, no stranger to the small screen, began his acting journey in 2013, featuring in Law and Order: UK.

Since then, he has appeared in Doctors, Death in Paradise, and portrayed PC Harness in ITV’s The Larkins, a reimagining of The Darling Buds of May, featuring his father, Bradley Walsh, as Pop Larkin.

Barney is not only an actor but also a television presenter. He co-presents the BBC’s revival of Gladiators with his father and stars with him in the hit ITV travel series Bradley and Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, which has just completed its sixth season.

Reflecting on their father-son relationship, Bradley once commented on ITV’s ‘This Morning’: “He has always been my son, and you always take care of them.

“But then all of a sudden he becomes your equal and a work colleague, and a mate, and someone you respect.”
