BBC Casualty Dylan Keogh star’s real life – from TV icon wife to lookalike sons

William Beck, famed for portraying Dylan Keogh in BBC’s Casualty since 2011, has become a fan-favourite after reprising his role following a hiatus in 2012 and becoming a series staple from 2014 onwards.

Beck has navigated through intense narratives with Dylan, including a tumultuous divorce from Sam Nicholls. An outpouring of viewer empathy was stirred recently by the on-screen death of Dylan’s cherished dog, Dervla, in scenes that tugged at heartstrings.

Offscreen, William enjoys a more tranquil existence, happily matched with Hannah Mallatratt, who is also part of the television and film realm.

Hannah is known for her makeup artistry, with work spanning across projects like the 2003 movie Between Two Women, the TV show Cutting It, and Ghost Hunting with Girls Aloud.

The duo exchanged vows back in 2010 and have welcomed twin sons Blake Stephen and Max Idris into their world, with OK! magazine documenting their journey.

Opting for privacy, William and Hannah seldom spotlight their family life, but William has occasionally allowed glimpses into their home life via social media.

Recalling his entry to the Casualty cast in 2011, he shared some personal snippets about his rapport with Hannah, disclosing to Holby TV their joint love for fitness and movies.

“When I have time off I like spending it with my wife – we got married only last year – and she keeps me from the worst excesses of a luvvie lifestyle. We both like to relax with vigorous physical exertion; boxing, running, cluedo. We love the cinema too,” William confided in a past conversation with Holby TV.

Before finding fame as an actor, William had a stint in medical school and gained experience working in hospitals. He eventually dropped out of medical school, previously acknowledging that he would get “bored very quickly”.

Choosing to veer off the medical path, William was drawn to acting through inspiration from some people he encountered while studying.

William’s pivot to acting saw him secure roles in various notable films, including Northanger Abbey, Snatch, and Goal II: Living the Dream. His television work includes roles in series such as ‘Red Cap,’ ‘Robin Hood,’ and ‘Vital Signs’ as well as appearances in The Suspicions of Mr Whicher.

Of late, William has graced our screens with performances in popular shows like Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders, and on the lighter side, Pointless Celebrities.
