BBC Casualty fans all say the same thing as show welcomes newcomers to ED

Casualty aired their first shows since the departure of Charlie Fairhead (played by Derek Thompson) and treated viewers to a double episode to mark the beginning of a brand new story. Any fans who were hoping that the next plotline would be a more cheerful offering than A History Of Violence were sorely disappointed though.

Entitled Breaking Point, this latest story arc puts Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) centre stage and he is still struggling following the death of his father. However, things are worse than fans could have feared as they learned that he is forced to have counselling thanks to the new clinical lead Patrick Onley (Jamie Glover).

Clearly overwhelmed, he also locked horns with his new boss who refused to give him any responsibility. He is also dealing with the arrival of his cousin Tariq Hussein (Manpreet Bachu) who is a new junior doctor, having last been seen at the funeral of Rash’s father.

The polar opposite of Rash he seemed to fit into the ED right away, which only compounded his awkwardness at returning to work. Although just two episodes into the story, it was clear that Rash is having serious issues that will take a while to resolve and fans were gutted for the popular medic.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter they shared their thoughts on what they had seen.

One user said: “Who is this creepy patronising Patrick then? Instantly dislike! #Casualty.”

Another commented: “Tariq is already irritating me. Patrick too!”

A third tweeted: “#Casualty really is so strange without Charlie Fairhead!”

And a fourth wrote: “#Casualty is really slow tonight, really not enjoying this back and forth episode and this new clinical lead is so obnoxious.”

Elsewhere in the episode, the show welcomed three new faces. Alongside Patrick and Tariq, Sammy T. Davies joined the ED as junior doctor Nicole Piper who is hiding the fact she is pregnant.

Meanwhile, Jacob Marsters (Charle Venn) received a worrying call from his son Blake who informed him he was in trouble and is in urgent need of help.

However, rather than dealing with it, Jacob had to head to a job dealing with the case of an abandoned baby. To his huge surprise, it was later confirmed that the baby was actually Jacob’s grandson which leaves the paramedic with some difficult decisions to make.
