“DAD, PLEASE FORGIVE ME” – Ridge never expected Eric to be able to take the company back from him

Ridge never imagined his father would outmaneuver him, but Eric Forrester had been quietly preparing for a comeback that Ridge never saw coming. What began as Ridge’s effort to “protect” his father spiraled into an emotional showdown that neither man was ready for.

For weeks, Ridge convinced himself that pushing Eric into retirement was the compassionate choice. Eric’s recent health issues had shaken Ridge to his core—he carried the fear of losing his father like a shadow that refused to lift. So, when Eric gently mentioned wanting to return to the design studio, Ridge hardened his resolve. In his mind, keeping Eric away from work was the only way to keep him alive.

Determined to make Eric’s retirement permanent, Ridge organized an extravagant farewell celebration at Forrester Creations. He lined up speeches, tributes, and a formal announcement that would cement Eric’s exit from the business. Ridge believed it was a loving gesture, a way to honor Eric’s accomplishments and give him the dignified send-off he deserved.

But Eric didn’t see it that way.

To him, the event resembled a funeral—a symbolic burying of the life he still believed he was capable of living. As Ridge’s carefully crafted praise echoed through the room, Eric forced smiles that didn’t reach his eyes. Brooke, Donna, and R.J. exchanged concerned looks, sensing the growing storm behind Eric’s polite facade.

Creating has always been the core of Eric’s existence—the sketches, the fabrics, the thrill of bringing something beautiful into the world. That was the heartbeat of his life, and now Ridge was trying to take it from him in the name of protection. The thought suffocated him more than any illness ever could.

Later that evening, when the celebration was over and the building had gone quiet, Eric retreated to his office. He stared at the designs he hadn’t been allowed to finish, his chest tight with emotion. The sadness that weighed on him slowly gave way to a sharper, fiercer feeling—anger. “He really doesn’t know who he’s dealing with,” Eric whispered, his voice trembling with determination, not weakness.

The betrayal didn’t come from a lack of love—Eric knew Ridge cared deeply—but from Ridge’s inability to understand the man Eric had always been. And so Eric made a decision. If Ridge would not allow him to step back into the company peacefully, he would reclaim it by force.

What Ridge never realized was that Eric had been preparing for this possibility for months. Quietly, discreetly, he had been rebuilding connections with investors, speaking privately with board members, and renewing old alliances. He understood the company bylaws better than anyone, and he’d uncovered a loophole that could flip the power structure with a single vote.

While Ridge assured Steffy that keeping Eric retired was “for his own good,” Eric was holding confidential meetings and collecting the signatures needed to overthrow Ridge’s authority as CEO. He drafted a formal motion to remove Ridge from power and reinstate himself as the company’s head.

The ambush came during what Ridge assumed would be a routine board meeting.

He entered the room ready to present new design strategies—only to find Eric seated at the head of the table, perfectly composed, with a stack of documents and a lineup of allies beside him. Eric’s voice was calm, but it carried a chilling certainty as he declared his intention to return as CEO, effective immediately.

Before Ridge could even process what was happening, the votes were cast—one after another—all unanimously in Eric’s favor.

The final count hit Ridge like a punch to the gut. His mentor, his hero, the man he thought he was protecting, had just taken back everything.

Outside the boardroom, emotions exploded. Ridge tried to explain, insisting his actions came from love and fear, not ambition. But Eric’s expression remained cold and resolved as he replied, “You didn’t protect me, Ridge. You trapped me.”

Ridge dropped every bit of pride he had left, pleading for forgiveness and asking for another chance to work beside his father instead of above him. Donna gently encouraged Eric to soften, reminding him of Ridge’s genuine devotion.

But Eric wasn’t ready. The hurt ran deep, and the trust between them had cracked in a way that couldn’t be instantly repaired.

Now Ridge is left questioning everything—his choices, his future at Forrester, and whether he has irreparably damaged his relationship with his father.

Will Eric eventually open the door for Ridge again?
Or has Ridge crossed a boundary that may cost him both his family and his legacy?
