Emmerdale favourite sacked in early ITVX episode as Joe Tate turns ruthless again

Emmerdale spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode (27 November), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Emmerdale’s Sam Dingle fears a miserable Christmas tonight – as he’s sacked for crossing Joe Tate. Sam’s decision to team up with his sister Belle to cause mischief for the Tates quickly backfires when Joe rumbles them.

The Dingles are currently fixated on giving Sam’s wife Lydia the perfect present of her dreams – tickets to a Jason Donovan concert. As they don’t have enough spare cash, Sam and Belle unite for a quick money-making scam at the Tate family’s expense.

In a classic Dingle con, Sam and Belle steal trees from Home Farm land and plan to sell them on quickly as Christmas trees. It seems to be a great way to make a fast buck ahead of the festive rush, but things are about to get complicated.

When Joe realises the trees are missing, he pays a visit to Sam at the Dingle cottage and innocently asks for his help with catching the culprits.sam dingle, emmerdale

It seems that Sam and Belle will get away with their antics when they pretend to know nothing about it, but Joe spots evidence of their secret haul on the way out…

Before long, Joe summons Sam to Home Farm to face his wrath. There are no second chances where Joe is concerned, so poor Sam gets sacked.

It’s terrible news for the Dingle family, as they’ve been hiding just how much they’re struggling financially ahead of the festive season. Can Belle find a way to fight back against the Tates, or will it be a gloomy time for them?

Whatever happens, Emmerdale fans already know that the show is gearing up to air a cameo from Jason Donovan himself next month, which should give Lydia some Christmas cheer.

“I’m incredibly excited to have been asked to make a cameo appearance in Emmerdale as myself,” Jason said recently. “Filming was great fun and all of the cast and crew were extremely welcoming. Singing in the Woolpack set was definitely an experience I won’t forget.”

Emmerdale’s producer Laura Shaw added: “We were delighted that Jason agreed to join us for this episode. Not only is Lydia Dingle a big fan of his, there was a real buzz on set that day. I hope the viewers enjoy his cameo as much as the Emmerdale family did.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
