Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale is set to air an (unintentional) Neighbours tribute on the day of its (second) last-ever episode, as Jason Donovan rocks up in the village to give a special performance at the Woolpack as part of Lydia Dingle’s storyline.
But not everyone will be too pleased to see the ‘Any Dream Will Do’ chart-topper. In fact, there’s set to be quite the rivalry, as the singer locks horns with none other than… Bob.
It’s best to just let Jason himself explains what goes down between the two. “The character of Bob’s reaction to my arrival is funny as it sort of blows his day,” the beloved ’80s singer said.
“He’s there in his gold outfit ready to go and I ruin his gig. You know, I’ve met a few characters like him in my time, living in this country, it was very funny to film.”

Recalling what happened when he found out the soap wanted him to appear, he said: “It was lovely to hear from this great show.
“I know from people that I have spoken to that there’s a lot of affection for the show. It’s been going for over 50 years. I’m 57, so there’s an interesting thing to think about. To come on and play myself, it sort of felt right.”
Although on-screen Jason might have a bit of a barney with Bob, in real life things went a lot more smoothly.

“My day went well. Long, my feet were tired, but my spirits were high,” he explained.
“It’s been fantastic. The cast have been lovely and everyone has been so welcoming. It’s great to come up to Yorkshire, to Leeds, I love it here. I’ve done a lot of shows up here in the past.
“I’ve felt genuinely loved today. I’ve had lots of selfies, not just with the cast, but crew, wardrobe and makeup. It felt like I was back in the 80s!”
