BBC Casualty fans were left in tears on Saturday night as Sunny Callahan was left fighting for her life, with fans left fearing the worst.Recently, the pharmacist was revealed as the person responsible for the drug thefts in the hospital, as she revealed that she got involved because her son was in trouble with a gang. Sunny had been swapping out the labels on bottles of morphine to replace them with those of saline, sparking concern throughout the hospital.

However, things took a drastic turn when the character was shot during her court hearing and was rushed to the ED. Graphic scenes saw Sunny covered in blood as she was left fighting for her life. As she was taken to the hospital, her devastated boyfriend, Rash, tried to save her, as her condition quickly started to deteriorate, and she asked for a dying declaration, revealing who shot her.

“Kai Aves, he shot me,” she said. “He led the van raid. He attacked Terry. There’s also a burner behind the fridge. Plates, numbers, drop-offs, even the threats, they’re all on there.”

However, things came to a dramatic end when Sunny’s blood pressure started to drop, and it was revealed she was in peri-arrest, as the police were ordered to leave.

“SUNNY!!” exclaimed one devastated fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a crying emoji, while another penned: “WHAT IS THIS??” with a crying gif. “NO NO NO!” exclaimed a third devastated fan.

However, fans and the doctors were left delighted when she pulled through. With an update at the end of the episode, Rash revealed: “Her vitals are stable. They’ll reduce sedation tomorrow.”

Faith was onside to support Rash, as she called Sunny “amazing,” adding: “If you can crush it on your worst day, imagine what you’ll do at your best,” as she gave him a kiss on the shoulder.

At the end of the episode, it was revealed that Sunny’s testimony had given the police “enough to take down the top of the supply chain,” with Duncan Yates as the target.

The episode came after a heartbreaking instalment last week, which saw the death of Cassie Woods. Cassie was a victim of a horrendous attack carried out by a gang. The character, who made her debut in June, is the foster sister of Dr. Nicole Piper (Sammy T Dobson).

In the scenes, it was agreed by the doctors that turning off her life support machine would be the only option, and in highly emotional scenes, Nicole and Cassie were seen holding hands as the machine was turned off.

Fans were left in tears, as one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Everyone hugging Nicole. That actually broke me.” Another said: “Poor Nicole [crying emoji]” and a third added: “What an episode, poor Flynn @Olly_Rix poor Nicole @sammytdobson[crying emojis] #BBCCasualty #Casualty.”

Elsewhere tonight, Ngozi celebrated her final day at work with a leaving do, although an emotional Nicole just couldn’t bring herself to say goodbye face to face.
