It’s that time of year for all the holiday romance movies, and Netflix is certainly stepping up. Move over, Hallmark! My Secret Santa is packed with warmth and a promise of love, but there’s a great Mrs. Doubtfire twist that goes with it.
This is sure to be perfect for Virgin River fans as it stars Alexandra Breckenridge as Taylor. Meanwhile, New Amsterdam fans will be happy to see Ryan Eggold in a movie where he’s likely to get the girl! And, the topic of Christmas love is always a fun one.
What is My Secret Santa about?
The movie brings a gender-swap twist to Mrs. Doubtfire, as Taylor decides to dress up as a man to get a job as a ski resort’s new Santa. Well, why not? As long as she can end up making a convincing Santa, right? And it seems that she does.
However, there is only one reason she wants the job at the resort. Her daughter wants ski lessons, and employees get a 50% discount on those lessons.
So, what’s the issue? It’s all about romance, as the general manager takes a liking to Taylor and there’s a promise of romance in the air. That, naturally, leads to questions about how she can keep her two lives separate, especially when there are people at the resort looking to find Santa’s secrets.
It’s the Virgin River and New Amsterdam crossover that you didn’t think you needed with the two of them. And yes, there is sure to be a bit of spice in the romance, especially as secrets start to come out. To be honest, this is one of those secrets that you can’t really get mad at a woman for. It’s not like job details always come up early on in the dating process, and Taylor did say that her life was complicated!
When is My Secret Santa on Netflix?
While many of Netflix’s holiday movies have come in November in the past, that’s not the case with My Secret Santa. It will drop on Netflix on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Yes, you can enjoy your Thanksgiving before starting to turn on the Christmas-themed movies.
It drops around 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Netflix, but you’ll be able to watch it whenever you want. As a Netflix Original, we don’t have to worry about it leaving the streamer.
