Ray and Celia’s exits sealed in early Emmerdale ITVX release as Marlon has a plan to get rid

The episode of Emmerdale that recently landed early on ITVX delivers a chilling continuation of April Windsor’s heartbreaking storyline—one that has pushed Marlon Dingle into the darkest, most desperate territory viewers have ever seen from him. With the official ITV1 broadcast still days away, fans who tuned in early witnessed a tense, emotional, and terrifying series of events that sets the stage for what may be the exit of two villains who have tormented the Dingle family: Ray Walters and Celia Daniels.

After learning the horrifying truth—that April has been dragged into a criminal network where she has dealt drugs and, even worse, been groomed and sold to older predators—Marlon was left scrambling for a way to keep his daughter alive. April confessed that Ray and Celia were the masterminds, controlling her movements and threatening her if she dared to walk away. Both Marlon and Rona Goskirk were initially adamant that the police would be their salvation. But last week’s confrontation shattered that hope entirely.

Celia stormed into Smithy Cottage with an icy fury that chilled the room. She propped a phone on the table, forcing Marlon, Rona, and April to watch Ray on a live video call. From his car, Ray sat waiting for young Dylan Penrith to open a farm gate. Without warning, Ray hit the accelerator and ploughed straight into the boy. The horrifying impact sent shockwaves through the cottage. It was a message, clear and brutal: they were being watched, controlled, and punished the moment they stepped out of line.

When today’s early-release episode begins, tension simmers between Rona and Marlon as they weigh their options. Rona insists escape is impossible—Ray and Celia seem to have spies in every corner of the village. But Marlon, clinging to the last fragments of hope, argues that if they time it perfectly, they might slip away long enough to vanish before anyone notices.

The first step is to get April into the car without arousing suspicion. To do that, they take her to the hospital to visit Dylan, who now lies unconscious after Ray’s horrific attack. When Marlon leaves the boy’s side, he hesitates, silently wondering if this will be the last time he sees the lad alive.

Once April gets back into the car, Marlon quietly locks all the doors. The moment she realizes what’s happening, she panics—terrified not for herself, but for Dylan. If Ray finds out she has disappeared, she insists, he’ll finish the job he started. Rona and Marlon try to reassure her, telling her this is the only chance to save all of them.

But they barely make it out of the car park before their hopes are destroyed. Another vehicle cuts sharply in front of them. The driver? Ray Walters, smirking as if he has already won. Ray explains that someone spotted Rona loading up the boot that morning—a boy on a bike who immediately rushed to tell him everything. He mocks the family, telling them that if they ever want a holiday, they should request permission from him first. April, trembling, falls apart and apologizes repeatedly. She promises Ray she’ll continue working for him until she’s “paid off what she owes.”

Back at Smithy Cottage, the crushing defeat leaves April convinced that the only way out is obedience—doing Ray’s drug runs, meeting dangerous men, anything necessary to “clear the debt.” But Marlon refuses to let his daughter sacrifice herself to a criminal organization that has already stolen her innocence.

Determined to end it once and for all, Marlon formulates a new plan. He tells Rona that if they can gather enough money to cover April’s supposed debt, they can hand it to Ray and finally put an end to the nightmare. Rona clings to the idea, desperate for a lifeline.

What neither of them knows, however, is the most devastating twist of all: there is no debt. Earlier in the year, Ray orchestrated an elaborate scam, framing April and Dylan for made-up expenses, damages, and “fees” so that he could trap them in his operation. The debt was never real. It was simply Ray’s way of locking vulnerable kids into a cycle of fear, loyalty, and dependency.

So even if Marlon pulls together a wad of cash and hands it over, will Ray really let them go? Or will this simply deepen the hold he has on their family?

As the episode closes, one thing becomes clear: Ray and Celia’s grip on April is tightening—but Marlon is reaching the point where he may do something drastic to free her. Their exits may be coming, but not before the story reaches a breaking point that could change the Dingles forever.
